Views from Committee Boat “B”, Antigua Sailing Week 2015

Our committee Boat “B” had a compact crew this year - John as the Race Officer along with his wife Roselyne, Claire doing the start and finish line calling, Helen and Susanne from Toronto, Luiz and myself. We spread out the tasks during the course of the races and managed to get through the week with a minimum of errors, only few of which were visible to the competitors, and stress levels were low by the time we started and finished the last race. Our committee boat was a Sunsail 384 catamaran named "Sabina" and we did have a couple of issues (no charging on an engine, chafed plumbing in the galley so we had to tie off the tubing and remove the faucet, no A/C and problems with the fridge) but nothing major. Getting the catamaran in and out of the tight dock space with several floating moorings in the way was a bit of a challenge, but catamarans can be driven like a tank and can rotate in place - assuming the wind isn't blowing it sideways.

Sailing Week spectators These boats have been called "lobster boats" because the guests come back after a day at sea in a bright shade of red somewhat resembling a cooked lobster.

Committee Boat I returned the other committee boat to Sunsail, a 444 catamaran, It was significantly bigger than our 384 catamaran and certainly held up better going against the waves.
