We took a guided tour of the Indian River late in the morning with Alexis and he said that most of the birds and crabs are gone by that time of day and the best time is in the early morning; but we still saw plenty of sights along the way. After the tour we did a quick return to the boat and then headed out to our rental car for some more driving and sightseeing. I didn't stop at Calibishi or Red Rock as I knew we'd be seeing them tomorrow but I did stop by the old Hampstead Sugar Mill ruins to see them again. Our goal for the day was the “Emerald Falls” national site and as there were no cruise ships in town there were just a handful of visitors and we had the falls to ourselves for a long time. The water was cold and refreshing and I tried just about every camera setting I could find to see if I could catch that perfect shot. I'd brought the tripod along but had neglected to check if I also had the attachment between tripod and camera and of course it was missing - making the tripod just another useless heavy item to have along.
After the long car trip back from the Emerald Falls we had a happy hour libation at the Purple Turtle and opted not to join the cruiser's dinner at the PAYS building but to return to the boat.
