Another nice night's rest at the Château Relaxeau energized me for the tasks today. I alternated between cleaning and inspecting below decks and doing work topsides to cool off. Despite SPF 30 I did get a bit of a sunburn; although I've been spared a bad burn this time around. I worked at removing the rust from the bimini and dodger frames - those are made with a different steel from the rest of the boat and are much more susceptible to rust (meaning they are "cheaper" steel). I wanted to end-for-end the chain and clean off the very rusty first 150 feet today, but I only managed to get the chain lowered and will have to complete that work tomorrow. The chain is in miserable condition, the amount of rust that flaked off just lowering the links through the windlass was scary and I doubt that the chain has retained half of it's original holding power.
I drove back to my abode, showered and then Candace, Mal and I drove to Gene's restaurant at Manuel Reef in Sea Cow's Bay for a wonderful meal (she doesn't have a website yet, but it is well worth going there). I didn't last long after the meal and dropped off to sleep quickly secure in the knowledge that I'd be quite sore on the morrow.
