Today marks the last day of racing at the Antigua Sailing Week 2016 and we are once again moored at the relatively sheltered “Rendezvous” start point for the final race. There will only be one race today, and not a long one at that as the competitors need to get ready for the daily prizegiving as well as the big final reception at English Harbour later on in the evening. The conditions were more settled than the day before and today's racing went without drama on either our part or on the part of the racers.
We made it back to the docks well in time for the 16:00 prizegiving and had our [liquid] celebrations well under way by then - joined by the crew of the pin boat, who often get short shrift despite their hard work in difficult conditions aboard their small fishing boat.
The prizegiving this year was an excellent one; the politicians and sponsors kept their speeches relatively short and succinct and everyone had a great time. The music was excellent, although I have to admit that I was tired and left around 21:00 with Angela, Stephen and David.
