With a bit of trepidation I left the dock at Nanny Cay today, luckily the slip next to me had been vacated the day before and I had a lot of room to maneuver out of the box. Once outside of the marina and in the waters of the Sir France Drake channel I set full mainsail and genoa in about 10-15 knots of wind and had a short, but exhilarating, sail to the protected anchorage in the Bight on Norman Island. Anchoring in my usual spot, I managed to get a lot of rust off my chain (again) and the first attempt didn't hold, but the second time was a charm.
I took a short break and then decided to head ashore to see the new bar/restaurant at Pirate's but the darned dinghy engine wouldn't start at all. I'd test-run it while at the dock in Nanny Cay and it had fired up immediately and run for a couple of minutes; but now it wouldn't. I tried removing and cleaning the spark plugs to no avail and ended up spending some time taking the carburetor completely apart and cleaning each piece. While nothing looked obviously wrong or gummed up, after putting the system back together I got it to fire up after just a few pulls and the engine seems to be running better than last season now that it has been serviced. I did a quick run ashore and stopped by the Willie T's to see the antics before returning to Zanshin.

Repairs in exotic locations The dinghy engine had worked at the marina, but wouldn't start. So I took the carburetor apart and cleaned everything including the small jets and once I put everything back together the engine fired right up.
