I had a shock this morning as I made my coffee, I was down to my last milk and had already used all of my reserves of UHT milk! This was a worse problem than my having run out of beer two nights before and I knew I had to do something about it. The downside of anchoring in a remote location off an uninhabited island is that there is no mini-mart close by and I decided to fuel up the dinghy and make a run inside this large bay to either Harmony Hall or all the way to the Nonsuch Bay Resort in the hopes that I could find a store. Going downwind wasn't a problem and I was soon at the Harmony Hall dinghy dock, but ashore it all looked closed down so I continued my downwind drift all the way to the furthest reaches and ended up at Nonsuch Bay Resort. It, too, looked a bit sleepy with just a few guests walking about but they did have a small store for hotel guests and I got 2 liters of UHT milk for my coffee and after talking with the guys working at the sailing activity hut I braved the 20 knot winds and bashed back upwind to Zanshin, sticking close to the shoreline to get out of the direct wind and have an easier trip.
I have always seen isolated clumps of Sargassum sea algae that looks like brownish drifting seaweed around the Caribbean, but this year I've seen larger clumps and it seems to be everywhere. Although I've not gotten any clogging up my water intakes, I can imagine that this might be an issue; and once it washes up on shore and starts to decompose it really stinks.

Sargasso at Green Island I'd never seen this much Sargasso around the Caribbean as this 2015 season.
