I just realized that today is the first time I've been at a dock in over 5 months! I'm currently umbilically connected to the docks at Nanny Cay with shore power and the air conditioner running. I have picked up a notebook and RSA secure token that was mailed here so that I can do some remote work for a customer of mine in Europe. I'm quite fortunate indeed in that the customer wishes me to “work from home” in order to have me save costs and pass those savings to the customer in the form of lowered hourly rates. I'm happy to do so, since working from the boat is eminently more satisfying than working on-site and living in a hotel somewhere where it is probably cold and rainy.
I got here from Peter Island by motoring across the channel and I did a good job of backing into a slip with a very short finger pier and unfortunately I had to leave it again since my boat was somewhat too long for pier and wouldn't let other boats enter or leave without potential problems. The dockmaster came aboard to assist in re-docking and he called to the office and they assigned me another slip. This one is at the head of the dock, and the dockmaster was aboard to make docking a piece of cake.
The rest of the day was spent working, or attempting to get my system up and running so that I could work. The special secure notebook and RSA Token let me get almost all the way through the corporate firewall but in the end it turned out that the connectivity could not be established and the IT department required that the notebook be returned to their corporate headquarters in order to get synchronized. Since the project is on a tight deadline this would not be possible and I resigned myself to putting Zanshin on the hard and flying to Copenhagen in order to get the work done on time. The decision as to how to proceed will happen tomorrow.

Ugly barge on pretty Peter This large barge is anchored off Great Harbour on Peter Island and does a good job of making the anchorage less attractive.

Barge on Peter Island This ugly barge has been moored in front of Great Harbour on Peter Island long enough to show up on Google Earth maps.

AC Electrical panel back The two builtin chargers aren't working, so I opened up the back of the AC panel on Zanshin to try to track the problem.
