While today was the first sailing event, it was the “Gill Commodore's Cup” and the committee "B" boat did not participate, so I didn't have anything to do. This was a good thing since I didn't get a great amount of sleep the night before. The exposed anchorage position was at the confluence of two wave systems which, infrequently, combined to make a very nasty rolling which was the worst I'd experienced to date in the new Zanshin, the only thing that came close to it was my night off St. Kitts where I weighed anchor in the middle of the night because the rolling was such that I could barely even crawl along the floor.
I vowed to anchor in closer, since I'd spent a large part of the night watching, with envy, the other masts and lights which didn't Rock & Roll as much as mine. Since the anchor was comprised mainly of boats participating in the Heineken Regatta I thought I'd sneak a better spot while they were sailing that day. I went to the Simpson Bay Yacht Club to watch the 10AM bridge opening which was by far the biggest I'd ever seen. Unfortunately, all those boats headed for the anchorage and although I did think I found a better place and weighed anchor, it turned out to give me 0 feet under the keel so I ended up, after motoring fruitlessly around the anchorage, back in the same exposed location for another night!
As a small consolation I treated myself to a baked potato and a small steak purchased ashore that night and got to bed, if not to sleep, early as the wake up call was set for just after 6AM.

Canadians giving a show There are a sponsored "judging" event for the bridge opening and these contestants won the day, despite nary a bikini in the bunch!

Bridge opening chaos So many boats were lined up for the opening of the 10AM bridge that the staging area was somewhat chaotic, to say the least.

Wrapped spinnaker This looked difficutl to untangle on this megayacht, but they managed to do it later without ripping the sail.
