The trade winds set in with a vengeance today. Perhaps the strong winds of over 20 knots all day were there in order to make up for the benign and calm conditions of the previous week, but in any case even the little fetch of the waters inside the reef was enough to make whitecaps. I put my camera in a plastic bag then put that inside my backpack which, in turn, was protected by a large garbage bag. I got into the dinghy and wanted to get some close-up shots of the kite surfers who were making the best of the conditions but even before I released the dinghy painter I was soaked from the waves bashing against it, so I opted to take my pictures from the bow of the boat with my longer lens but most of the good action shots were so blurred as to be useless.
Despite the rough waters in the anchorage the boat was steady as a rock since the waves and wind were coming from the same direction and the wind (and current) kept the bow into the waves and their wave period was small enough so as not to bother Zanshin at all. Since I didn't know what it would be like in English Harbour or Falmouth Harbour I opted to remain where I was for the day and the night.
Since I was out of bread I decided to bake some of my own today, it is surprising how little effort it takes to actually make the dough and bread, but how much cleaning up there is to do afterwards.

Note to self: Do not mix dry flour with the hatches open and 20 knots of breeze outside again.

Bread making ingredients laid out I've laid out all the components for making bread (then I realized I forgot to include the butter, and since everything in the photo is on top of the fridge lid I let the butter stay out of the photo.
