The generator had failed after startup the night before with an overheat error message, and since the cooling water system inlet wasn't plugged but no water was flowing I knew I'd have to replace the impeller and since it was my first time on this generator I knew it would take a while, so Rob and Nat took off in the dinghy to explore Prickly Pear island and the reef while I went to work below.
They returned over an hour later as I was finishing and we had a quiet day aboard and at Leverick where we picked up dive equipment and signed up for a dive of the Chikuzen the next morning. Happy Hour was at Saba Rock and we had another fine dinner aboard.

Replacing the generator impeller The genset shut off after several seconds of running with an overheat warning, so I knew that it was either the impeller or the cooling water feed and, unfortunately, that was clear so it was off to work at finding the pump and replacing the impeller.

Old and New impellers No wonder that the original impeller wasn't pushing any water, it is chewed up completely. Getting the old one out was easy, but putting the replacement device back in took quite some time.
