The Last 2 Figaro race boats arrive in St. Barths after crossing the Atlantic. The Transat AG2R La Mondiale is a gruelling 2 handed crossing of the Atlantic in 22 to 26 days from Concarneau in France to St. Barths (also still in France). The last two stragglers were welcomed as heroes and it seems that the whole island turned out at the docks and in dinghies to welcome them. |

Björn took this clip while we were bashing between St. Barths and St. Kitts & Nevis en route to his date with a flight back to Europe from Antigua. The weather was pretty good, but the wind was still over 20 knots and swell was forecast as 2-3m so it wasn't the most comfortable of passages but it was fast. I had 3 reefs in the genoa and reefs in the main to keep the boat balanced and not heeled too far. We were doing 8 knots on the Raymarine log, but the GPS showed speeds closer to 9 (I later re-adjusted the log settings). |

The approach and landing at St. Barths is a thrill for all concerned - the spectators, the passengers and the flight deck crew. I was standing at the side of the roundabout above the airport when I took this clip. |

This time I set up the camera on a tripod above and off to the side of the approach path and waited. And waited some more. Finally, this single engined airplane came in for a landing and I decided not to wait for a bigger one. |
